Pre-Order: The Cinnamon Band 7” + MACRoCk Recap

Cinnamon Band 7"

Pre-Order Black Love / Tough Love by The Cinnamon Band:

Funny / Not Funny Records is proud to present The Cinnamon Band’s vinyl debut with this limited edition 45rpm single. John Harouff and Neil Campbell achieve all of their goals on this record without any unnecessary elements.  Their unique brand of two man rock n roll is full, dynamic, and loaded with hooks.  Their composition is competent and clean just like the cover. Their vocal harmonies are reminiscent of the Everly Brothers, and in fact John and Neil have been playing together for so long they might as well be brothers themselves.

Make sure to Pre-Order this limited to 300, must have, 7” before it’s gone. And why should you Pre-Order you might ask? Everyone who Pre-Orders the record will be entered into a contest where one lucky winner will receive the test press of this release!!

Pre-Order: The Diamond Center 7” + F/NF 015 Contest Winner

Diamond Center 7"

Funny / Not Funny Records is proud to present The Diamond Center’s second foray into wax by releasing the California / Bells 7”. Utilizing every inch with grooves, much like the record before it, these two tunes are able to take you on a lush psychedelia filled dreamquest for a swooning 13 minutes. Fuzzed guitars, waning organs, minimalist drum lines, a dualistic yet harmonious approach to vocals, and mastery of dynamics as a whole that only comes from perfect practice all culminate to bring you one of our most epic releases to date. This vision came into being at the Magic Twig Community’s Mystic Fortress, the same studio birthplace as our 14th release, giving you, the listener, yet another round of fully realized and quality recordings. Spin this single and transcend into the truth we speak.

On this record you will find more hooks, shorter songs, and a succinct songwriting style, all aspects the title may hint at.  Staying true to their roots the band still delivers the same mind melting guitar harmonies interwoven with beautiful melodies that makes up their characterizing sound.  In short, these mountain men from North Carolina have put together 10 refined tracks of Appalachian rock pop gold.

Monthly Mixtape by the Naked Gods

Naked Gods

This mix was compiled by Chris Hutelmeyer, Seth Sullivan, and Derek Wycoff. For Brian’s picks make sure and download the entire Beatles catalog off of itunes. And for Christian’s browse under Patti Smith. Expect an eclectic mix of JAMS for any occassion. Here we go:

Bruce Springsteen - Candys Room
I kind of think of this song as Springsteen’s new wave track. It is so tightly wound through the verses and then it just explodes when the chorus hits. The harmonies are great and the guitar sounds like a fucking airplane crash.
- Seth Sullivan

Felt - Rain of Crystal Spires
Each time I listen to this song I become less of a man, but in a good way.
- Chris Hutelmeyer

The dB’s - Neverland
One of those songs that makes me feel nostalgic for no reason at all. A snarling punk punch distilled through John Hughes flavored bubblegum. NC represent!
- Seth Sullivan

Chas Jankel - Glad To Know You
Cheese laden hooks over shit-disco.
- Derek Wycoff

Charanjit Singh - Raga Kalavati
1982? Are you joking? Get your head right.
- Derek Wycoff

The Olivia Tremor Control - Memories of Jaqueline 1906
This song is about the time that Phil Collins watched a man jump off a
bridge and pleasured himself.
- Chris Hutelmeyer

Robert Wyatt - Born Again Cretin
The counterculture’s creepy uncle doin’ some scattin’
- Derek Wycoff

D’Angelo - One Mo’ Gin
Are you seeking guidance & balance? Whip out that Patchouli incense and put on this slow burner while you make it happen.
- Derek Wycoff
