Pre-Order:The Demon Beat / Elephant Child split 7” + Wonder Records

Front CoverBack Cover

Funny / Not Funny Records is proud to present the Demon Beat / Elephant Child split 7”. Three tracks of heavy hitting, fuzzed out, garage rock and roll from two of the most entertaining acts on the Interstate 81 corridor of the Virginias. This is a record of firsts; it marks the Demon Beat’s welcome to the Funny / Not Funny family, it marks the debut vinyl release from Elephant Child, and it marks the first time these long time friends have been paired together on one release.

We have approved the test presses and it is time to launch the Pre-Order for F/NF 016!  Limited to 300, each with hand screen printed covers, this release is a sure bet for any fan of 70’s garage rock or 90’s grunge. Pre-Order Here (comes with an instant download of the entire 7”)!

Would you like a preview? No problem, check out a track from each band below.

Wonder Records

We are very excited to announce our partnership with Wonder Records.  Opened late last year, Wonder Records is a new/used record store in downtown Harrisonburg run by our good friend Elliott Downs.  We have been stocking our releases at Wonder since day 1, but now we have begun a new partnership with our Pre-Orders.  Wonder is set up to take Pre-Orders for our upcoming releases, it is a great way for local’s to Pre-Order, still get entered in any of our Pre-Order contests, still receive an instant download and save on shipping.  Swing by to check out Wonder’s great selection and Pre-Order F/NF 015 or F/NF 016!  Located at 29 West Water Street in downtown Harrisonburg.

Demon Beat: Welcome to our family!

Funny / Not Funny Records is excited to welcome the Demon Beat into our family with the announcement of F/NF 016 a split 7” with Harrisonburg’s own Elephant Child.  The Demon Beat has not only been working hard out on the road and in the studio, they have also been building a scene in their hometown of Shepherdstown WV that proudly emphasizes community and family.   Their friendship with Elephant Child quickly turned into a friendship with F/NF and we are thrilled to welcome them to the family.  We will have more info about this release and others that are in the works, but in the meantime check out the monthly mixtape created by Adam and Tucker of the Demon Beat to get to know them a little better or by visiting one the sites below:

Track Information:

From Adam:

The Wipers - Is This Real (4 track version)
This band is pretty sweet. I chose the 4-track version so people would think I was cool.
The Bob Seger System - Ramblin Gamblin Man
I like this drum sound. Way better than Night Moves.
Gary Glitter - Rock and Roll Pt. 2
Shit is dope. Heard it on Jock Jams.
Quad City DJ’s - Space Jam
Shit is dope. Heard it on Space Jam.

From Tucker:

Sleepwalker - Dirty As Hell
A bunch of our friends started this band this year. Tyler’s voice is pretty insane on this one.
Yuck - Automatic
This is just one of those songs I cannot stop listening to. It’s so simple, but so perfect. Best thing this band has done in my opinion.
Ty Segall - Goodbye Bread
Way more relaxed than his earlier stuff, but I kind of like that about it. Definitely more melody driven and focused. Can’t wait to play with him next month!
JEFF the Brotherhood - Bummer
We were lucky enough to open for these guys back in August. They are cool dudes and put on one of the best (and loudest) live shows around. This record is pretty stellar, probably my favorite record the past year.

11-11-11 marks Great Dads first trip to Harrisonburg!

Funny / Not Funny Records is proud announce a little surprise. Today, on 11-11-11, Great Dads will be visiting our base of operations for the very first time!  If you are unfamiliar with Great Dads, they were featured on our F/NF Summer 2011 Mixtape that is available on our site for free and we first blogged about them back in June.  If you are looking for more tunes by them check their bandcamp. The Charlottesville based band is yet another project to spawn from the musical mind of Invisible Hand frontman Adam Smith.  We highly encourage to come out to the Blue Nile tonight if you live in the area and to scope their tunes online if you are not.  Also, make sure to get to the show early tonight, before 9pm, as tickets are selling out fast for this special occasion.  Oh and did we mention Ted Leo and the Pharmacists are also playing?

Ted Leo, Duh!
