“we had a little scene in h’burg, but never later. remember bill callahan (willpower zine and later of Smog) once called us “one of the top 5 bands in VA”, i was like ‘what?’”

Here is a video of DT And The Shakes playing at THE LITTLE GRILL in September 1986:

Here is a photo of The Mystic Den, a venue that used to exist where the Jail is now.
The Mystic Den

Does anyone remember any of this, and/or has anyone ever heard stories of this? I moved to Harrisonburg in 2004 so I never saw these buildings and I don’t know anyone that lived her in the early 80s that went to shows then.

DT AND THE SHAKES ARE DOING A REUNION SHOW IN JUNE AT CARDINAL POINT WINERY!?!?

I emailed the person who set up the myspace page to see what the scoop was with their old records, and the records that they say are just sitting in boxes for their bands that followed, if anyone’s interested. I’ll let you know what comes of that.

Thanks Combs and Brent Finnegan for digging this up!

Another band that was brought to my attention was The Skanks. Here’s a video of them playing at The Mystic Den in 1986
